Don Lancaster's Electronics Books

foundations of electronic music

Two books from the early days of electronic music that cover the integrated circuits of that era and the fundamentals they represent.

Don Lancaster wrote these books in the 1970s. They explain digital logic and CMOS circuits in a practical way. The concepts still apply today.

CMOS Cookbook
A guide to CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) integrated circuits. Covers basic gates through to applications. Useful for building oscillators, sequencers, or other circuits using CMOS ICs like the CD4000 series.

RTL Cookbook
An introduction to RTL (Resistor-Transistor Logic) circuits. RTL technology has been superseded, but the book covers digital logic principles that apply to all logic families.
